Training Manual

This section features the extensive illustrated training manual we had developed for schools. The Urban Agriculture Activity Manual incorporates seven units that explain the basics and the process of planting from seeds till harvesting, and also addresses issues such as the domestication of wild plants into cultivated ones, the impact of weather on plants, and the seasonality of planting.

As an extension to this manual, we in addition developed the Urban Agriculture Manual Addendum that provides detailed hands-on instructions on composting, as well as on planting using hydroponics and in wicking beds.

We developed interactive exercises that accompany these two manuals to help learners recap the information presented. These exercises are available in the manuals, but are also assembled, along with their answers, in the Worksheets document.
