The First Modern Residential Apartment Building in Amman: al-Kabariti Building
The recently-renovated al-Kabariti Building is located in Jabal Amman’s First Circle area, adjacent to the Books@Cafe establishment along Omar Bin al-Khattab Street, which leads to Rainbow Street. It was built by 'Allawi al-Kabariti during the late 1940s, and was Amman's first modern residential apartment building. The elegant building is unique in that its front (eastern) façade perfectly follows the curve of the adjacent street and extends along a length of about 50 meters. It also contains three main entrances with three staircases, each providing access to apartments on one side only. The ground floor of this three-storey building consists of stores that currently accommodate small shops and galleries.
مبنى الكباريتي: أول مبنى حديث يضم شقق سكنية في عمّان
يقع مبنى الكباريتي الذي أعيد ترميمه مؤخراً في منطقة الدوار الأول من جبل عمّان بجانب مقهى (بوكس آت كافيه) على شارع عمر بن الخطاب المتفرّع من شارع الرينبو. وكان قد قام ببناءه علاوي الكباريتي في نهاية عقد الأربعينيات من القرن الماضي، وكان أول مبنى حديث يضم شققاً سكنية في عمّان. ويعتبر هذا المبنى الأنيق فريداً من نوعه إذ تتبع واجهته الرئيسية الشرقية منحنى الشارع المحاذي له وتمتد على طول ٥٠ متر تقريباً. كما أن المبنى يحتوي على ثلاثة مداخل رئيسية تخدم أدراج كل منها شقة واحدة في كل من الطابقين العلويين السكنيين. ويتكوّن المبنى من ثلاثة طوابق ويحتوي طابقه الأرضي على متاجر ومعارض صغيرة
