Khalaf Tell’s House

Located along al-Khayyam Street in Jabal al-Luweibdeh (two buildings away from al-Khayyam Cinema), this house was built by Khalaf Mohammad Tell in the late 1930s. The house was designed by architect Sabah al-Kilani, and originally consisted of an elevated structure with an open garden underneath. In 1952, Khalaf’s wife, Khadija Tell, had a number of stores added to the site of the house, along the street. The stores were designed by architect Fahd Daoud al-Jabaji. 

Khalaf Mohammad Tell (1890 – 1943) had held several military and civic positions in the Middle East. In 1938, he became Minister of Internal Affairs in Jordan. He also took part in the leadership and support of several Arab revolutions against foreign occupation in Syria, Iraq, and Palestine.

منزل خلف التل

يقع هذا المنزل في شارع الخيام في جبل اللويبدة ويفصل بينه وبين سينما الخيام مبنيان. وقام خلف محمد التل ببناء المنزل في نهاية الثلاثينات من القرن العشرين وصممه المعمار صباح الكيالي. والبناء مرفوع عن سطح الأرض ويغطي منطقة مفتوحة على ما حولها. وقد قامت زوجة خلف التل خديجة بإضافة مخازن للموقع في عام 1952 بمحاذاة الشارع، وقام بتصميم المخازن المعمار فهد داوود الجبجي

كان خلف محمد التل (١٨٩٠ - ١٩٤٣) قد شغل مناصبَ عسكرية ومدنية في عدة بلدان عربية. وقد عيّن وزيراً للداخلية في الأردن في عام ١٩٣٨. وكذلك شارك في قيادة ودعم عدة ثورات عربية ضد الإحتلال الأجنبي في سوريا والعراق وفلسطين
