The Jordan Pavilion Exhibition at the King Hussein Gardens
The Jordan Pavilion was originally constructed as an exhibition pavilion representing Jordan's history and heritage for Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany. The 2.5 - million USD project was designed by architects Akram Abu Hamdan, Bishr Zureikat, Sahel Al Hiyari, Nadia Dajani, and Hassanen Kazemi. After the exhibition came to an end, the Pavilion was relocated to the King Hussein Gardens, Amman's largest public park.
The Pavilion's main 1800 m2 space is designed as a sunken rectangular open pit that is divided along a 90 x 90 cm grid on which are placed display objects that were created by Jordanian artists, designers, craftsmen, and school children.
As is the case with many of Jordan's public spaces, the Pavilion today unfortunately suffers from neglect, a lack of maintenance and upkeep, and vandalism.
الجناح الأردني لمعرض هانوفر 2000 في حدائق الملك حسين
صُمم هذا المشروع ليمثل تاريخ الأردن وحضارته في معرض مدينة هانوفر في ألمانيا لعام 2000. وقام بتصميم المشروع الذي بلغت قيمة تنفيذه مليونين ونصف المليون دولار أمريكي المعمارون أكرم أبو حمدان وبشر زريقات وسهل الحياري وناديا الدجاني وحسنين كاظمي. وبعد إنتهاء المعرض في هانوفر، نُقل المشروع إلى حدائق الملك حسين، التي تشكّل أكبر متنزه عام في عمّان.
يتكون المشروع من منطقة مفتوحة مستطيلة الشكل منخفضة عن مستوى الأرض تتبع مخططاً مساحته 1800 م2 مقسم إلى مربعات مساحة كل منها 90x 90 سم. وتحوي هذه المربعات معروضات ومنحوتات نفذها فنانون ومصممون وطلاب مدارس أردنيون.
وكما هو حال العديد من المساحات العامة في الأردن، يعاني هذا المشروع اليوم وللأسف من الإهمال والتخريب وإنعدام المتابعة والصيانة.
